Brian Cassey: Gone To The Dogs

The Cairns Greyhound Racing Club has been informed by the Queensland governing body - Greyhounds Queensland - that their small club will be de-registered and cease racing on 30th June 2009. To continue racing their dogs members wiil face a nine hour round trip to the next nearest club track at Townsville. They are determined to battle the authorities, maintain racing in the area and keep the club of 50 years standing operating.

(late in 2009 the club was granted a reprieve but their meetings were cut by half.)
