November 2011 - an update on the post below regarding the "2011 International Loupe Awards" - 'fotostrada' member and finalist Graham Crouch has been anounced the WINNER of the Photojournalism section of the awards - and his image is now in the running with the seven other open category winners for the Grand Prize.

November 2011 - 'fotostrada' members Graham Crouch, Dean Lewins and Brian Cassey took out EIGHT awards between them in the just announced "2011 International Loupe Awards" (formerly the "International Aperture Awards). Graham won Gold in Photojournalism for his pic of a starving child on a weigh scale. Dean won Silver (for 'Lady GaGa in Sydney') and Bronze in Portraits & People - also Bronze in Sport and Photojournalism, whilst Brian was awarded Silver in Sport (for 'Crazy Horse') and bronze in each of Photojournalism and Portraits & People.

October 2011 - Great result for 'fotostrada' in the 2011 Walkley Awards. In the Walkley Nikon Best Portrait Award Brian Cassey was ajudged the 'Winner' and Dean Lewins 'Runner Up' with their works "Carol - Burns Survivor" and "Lady Gaga in Sydney" respectively. September 2011 - 'fotostrada' member Graham Crouch adds a new pic essay - entitled "Red Cross Kabul" - to 'Latest Stories' on the 'fotostrada' website. The images depict amputees and their prosthetic limbs at the Red Cross (ICRC) Orthopaedic Centre in Kabul Afghanistan.

September 2011 - 'fotostrada' member Brian Cassey adds a new picture essay - entitled "Soulless in Seoul" - to 'Latest Stories' on the 'fotostrada' website. The essay documents the plight of the homeless Koreans who are being forcibly evicted from Seoul Railway Station by State rail operator Korail.

September 2011 - 'fotostrada' member Brian Cassey wins the "Best Photographic Essay" award at the 'Clarion Awards' in Brisbane - Queensland's premier media awards - with images from his work covering Cyclone Yasi.

August 2011 - 'fotostrada' members Dean Lewins and Kelly Barnes both receive "Highly Commended" awards at the "2011 PANPA Newspaper Photograph of the Year" presentation at Darling Harbour. Deans work is on the Queensland floods, Kelly's - the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

August 2011 - 'fotostrada' member Kelly Barnes posts a new essay to "Latest Stories' on the 'fotostrada' website - "Miss Ink SA" - on the ladies and the 'art' of tattoo in Adelaide.

August 2011 - the work covering the passage of Cyclone Yasi by 'fotostrada' member Brian Cassey is selected as Finalist in both photographic categories - Best News Photo and Best Photographic Essay - in Queenslands' "2011 Clarion Media Awards". Winners announced in Brisbane September 10th.

August 2011 - 'fotostrada' member Brian Cassey has been asked to exhibit his work on the cage home people of Hong Kong - "Cage Dogs" - at Asia's pre-eminent design and arts expo - the Gwangju Design Biennale in South Korea - from 2nd September. August 2011 - TWO 'fotostrada' members - Dean Lewins and Kelly Barnes are selected as Finalists in the "2011 PANPA Newspaper Photograph of the Year" awards. Dean's work is entitled "Brisbane Floods" and Kelly's "Japanese Tsunami and Earthquake Aftermath". Winner is announced in Sydney on August 18th.

July 2011 - Renee Nowytarger - a founder member of 'fotostrada' - rejoins the collective following the birth of her first born and relocation. Amongst Renee's many achievements she was both 2009 and 2005 Walkley Press Photographer of the Year.

July 2011 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey is selected as the featured artist on Tribal Truth - an online community dedicated to art, humanitarian issues and social change. May 2011 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey posts his second pic essay from his recent road trip in India - "Rajasthan & Holi" - to "Latest Stories" on the site.

May 2011 - fotostrada member Graham Crouch posts his pic essay "Cricket World Cup 2011" to "Latest Stories" on the site.

May 2011 - fotostrada members Kelly Barnes and Mark "Crusty" Baker both post essays to "Latest Stories" of their work covering the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.

May 2011 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey is selected as runner up in the Moran Photographic Prize 2011. His image "Cyclone" received the "Highly Commended" award at a function at the State Library of NSW Sydney.

April 2011 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey posts the first pic essay from his journey to India - entitled "Varanasi". See it at "Latest Stories".

April 2011 - fotostrada members Dean Lewins and Brian Cassey are selected as Finalists in the 2011 Head On Portrait Prize. Over 2500 entries were received. Deans Finalist entry is "2.39am" - an image of Tony Abbott on the election trail, whilst Brian's is an image of "Carol - Burns Survivor". Winners will be announced at the commencement of the Head On Festival in Sydney on May 5th.

March 2011 - fotostrada members fair well at the Moran Photographic Prize 2011. Brian Cassey's image "Cyclone" made the finalist cut, whilst three other images by Melanie Russell and Brian Cassey(2) also made the semi-finals.

February 2011 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey posts a photo essay on the passage of the devastating category 5 Cyclone Yasi across the north Queensland coast. See it at "Latest Stories".

January 2011 - fotostrada members Dean Lewins, Dean Saffron, Kelly Barnes and Sam Mooy post a collaborative pic essay on the massive and unprecedented Australia wide floods. See it at "Latest Stories".

January 2011 - fotostrada member Dean Saffron adds a timely new photo essay to "Latest Stories" on the site. Entitled "Condamine - Flood Evauation" it's a documentation of the return of the residents of the flooded Queendsland town of Condamine a week after their forced evacuation.

December 2010 - fotostrada member Graham Crouch adds a colourful and intriguing new photo essay to "Latest Stories" on the site. Entitled "An Indian Wedding" it's a visual documentation of the nuptials and ensuing celebrations in Bhopal India.

Graham has also added to the web site a set of single images and an essay entitled "Leaving Iraq".

November 2010 - fotostrada announces the addition of a NEW MEMBER - our ninth.

Former 'The Australian' photojournalist Graham Crouch has joined the ranks. Graham is now based in New Delhi, India and has also worked in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Whilst at 'The Australian Newspaper' Graham covered news, features, politics and sport based in Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns. More info on Graham's work in his Biography.

October 2010 - fotostrada member Kelly Barnes adds a new photo essay to 'Latest Stories' - entitled "Canonisation of Mary MacKillop" - images from the town of Penola where Mary MacKillop started her work..

October 2010 - fotostrada member Dean Lewins adds a new photo essay to 'Latest Stories' - entitled "On The Trail" - images on the election trail with opposition leader Tony Abbott.

October 2010 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey adds a new photo essay to 'Latest Stories' - entitled "Banyu Pinaruh - Bali" on the Hindu festival of bathing to cleanse the body and soul.

September 2010 - fotostrada member Sam Mooy adds a new photo essay to 'Latest Stories' - entitled "A Day In Old Delhi".

August 2010 - fotostrada is pleased to announce a NEW member - Mark "Crusty" Baker - who I'm sure many of you already know for his work for the 'wires' - Reuters and Associated Press. Highly credentialed, Crusty's Biography is now up on site with his images soon to follow.

August 2010 - another new pic essay - "Bush Races" by Brian Cassey - up on the fotostrada site under 'Latest Stories'.

July 2010 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey is named as a Finalist in the 2010 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. The Winner of the $80,000 prize will be announced on the 10th August at the exhibition opening night at the State Library of NSW Sydney.

June 2010 - fotostrada - 'the book' - was launched at the Australian Centre for Photography's "Winter Book Fair" on June 19th and is available for purchase.

A selection of essays and single images from fotostrada photographers in a quality folio, the volume is hardcover, landscape (13" x 11" - 33 x 28 cms), 118 heavy stock pages and contains 100 photographs.

June 2010 - The results of the 4th International Color Awards, Masters Cup have been announced and

fotostrada member Brian Cassey has won two "Honorable Mention's" for his work in the "Photojournalism" and "Wildlife" categories.

May 2010 - fotostrada welcomes new member Kelly Barnes. Currently based in Adelaide working for The Australian, Kelly is an experienced photographer who has also worked as a freelance and on staff for many newspapers around Australia. Please see his biography.

March 2010 - fotostrada member Brian Cassey is selected by his peers as a "Australia's Top Photographers" - "Top Ten" finalist in both the Editorial and Photojournalism categories. Winners in each category and an overall winner will be announced in April.

June 2009 - fotostrada member Sam Mooy is selected as one of three finalists in the "Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards" photographic category.
