Sam Mooy: A Day In Old Delhi
Old Delhi, India. Young Indian men wait for their day to begin during the peak India summer season, with an average daily temperature topping over 46 degrees celsius.
According to recent reports, current tranportation policies in mega-cities culminate in threats to health through air pollution, noise and an overall affect on quality of life. Increased air pollution in Delhi, which affects the health of all citizens, has become a major public health issue.
More than half of all Indian dwellings have little or no sanitation, and over 200 million people still have no access to safe drinking water.
WHO estimates that 900,000 Indians die each year from drinking contaminated water and breathing in polluted air.
