Tracey Nearmy: Bufo Marinus

Bufo Marinus, also known as the cane toad, was introduced into Australia by the sugar cane industry in the 1930’s to control the cane beetle.

While conservationists now struggle to stop the spreading plague of toads, a culture of acceptable cruelty and ground level eradication thrives in northern Australian regional and rural communities.
